EELS modelling of graphitisation
نویسندگان
چکیده
The impact of graphitisation-type processes on the carbon K-edge ELNES is explored for model systems using the CASTEP density functional theory code. For c lattice direction expansion, contraction of spectral peaks occurs between 20 and 27 eV above the edge onset, for a/b lattice dimension expansion spectral peaks are heavily compressed in terms of energy separation and are shifted towards the edge-onset, consistent with a 1/a relationship. For a nanotube model system, it is shown that for higher curvature, an additional feature was observed in the spectrum ~5 eV, arguably consistent with ‘fullerene’-type character.

متن کاملPredicting eel production
The aim of this modelling exercise is to develop a robust statistical model to estimate, with appropriate uncertainty, eel production at sites and locations where data are scarce. Foundational to this model are large datasets from a subset of regions around Europe where eels are present. From these data, and using existing knowledge of growth, mortality and recruitment, we develop a Bayesian mo...
متن کاملModel-based quantification of EELS spectra: Including the fine structure.
An extension to model-based electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) quantification is reported to improve the possibility of modelling fine structure changes in electron energy loss spectra. An equalisation function is used in the energy loss near edge structure (ELNES) region to model the differences between a single atom differential cross section and the cross section for an atom in a cryst...
متن کاملLight-Sensitive Vertical Migration of the Japanese Eel Anguilla japonica Revealed by Real-Time Tracking and Its Utilization for Geolocation
Short-time tracking (one to eight days) of the Japanese eel (Anguilla japonica) using ultrasonic transmitter was performed in the tropical-subtropical area adjacent to the spawning area and temperate area off the Japanese Archipelago. Of 16 eels (11 wild and five farmed) used, 10 wild eels displayed clear diel vertical migration (DVM) from the beginning, while the other five farmed eels tracked...
متن کاملPrevalence of Anguillicoloides crassus and growth variation in migrant yellow-phase American eels of the upper Potomac River drainage.
Prevalence of the non-native swim bladder nematode Anguillicoloides crassus has recently increased in American eels from estuaries of the North American Atlantic coast, but little is known about parasite prevalence or conditions of previous infection in upstream migrant eels within upper watersheds. This study is the first to confirm presence of A. crassus in the upper Potomac River watershed. ...
